Bead Soup 6 Revealed

Soooo, after weeks of having these beautiful beads in my hands, I finally but them together. I am so thrilled to have this bead mix. They are such beautiful stones which I found exciting to play with. At first when I got them, I was in awe! All I could do was look at them and touch them. I know, Im weird like that...LOL But then I had to figure out how I was going to use them. I am one who likes to use as many of the bead mix that I can in the designs. I dont like to just chose a few and away you go. Nope, I want to use them all...so I did a little sketch...didnt like the first arrangement. Then I set them aside for a few weeks..yes, way too long. But sometimes even when I wasn't looking at them, I was still thinking about them.
Finally
I got the dangle part done first. I think that was the most important part. I didnt want to do any stitching with this mix. Then, I put the second necklace dangle together...there they sat again..less than a week this time...and then finally I sat and put the rest of the necklaces together and made the earrings in one evening. Claire and I had written each other to get a feel for our liking's when it comes to beads. I love lavenders and she sent this mix with that in mind. I did etch lavenders onto the copper rectangles but they are hard to see. The etching was a little difficult and they didn't stand out quite the way I was hoping. I still have a lot to learn about etching but I love the look so much. I did patina the pieces in vinegar which gave them that old copper look. They feel so nice on, I love the feel of heavy necklaces...but not too heavy...LOL
Thanks so much Claire for such a fabulous bead soup...HUGS
Oh, and don't forget to check out Claire's blog to see what she created with the mix I sent her, I cant wait... I'm so excited to see for myself.. Chris

  41. Your pieces are really cool. I totally get what you mean about a heavy necklace, but not too heavy. I like necklaces with a little weight to them too!
Your pairing of the green and purple in the first necklace worked out beautifully. Nice work overall!!

  42. I absolutely love the combination of the "lavendars" and your copper etched pieces...really beautiful! Your necklace could easily be switched around so the "back" is the "front" sometimes.
